Hello! My name is Mauris from YudhistiraMauris.com. In this video, I’ll show you How to Connect Your Domain Name to Your Hosting Account Using Name Servers. Before we get started, here are some required tools that we’ll be using during this video.
The first tool is web hosting account. I’ll be using my HostGator account which use cpanel. If you don’t have web hosting account yet and are planning to get one, I recommend HostGator because I’m using it personally. It’s suitable for my needs and affordable too. Check out the description below this video for HostGator discount info.
The second tool is domain name. You can get domain name from domain registrar for as low as 10 usd. I usually use namecheap to register my domain. Check out the video description for the link.
Okay. Now we have web hosting account and domain name. The first thing we are going to do is to connect our domain name with web hosting account, so whenever users visit our domain name, it will serves the right website taken from our hosting account.
To do so, go to your domain registrar account. Click domain that you want to manage and go to Domain Name Server setup section. On this page, you will be given options to use default Name Servers or specify your own custom name servers. Choose the ‘specify custom name servers’ option.
Then log in to your hosting cpanel. scroll down until you find the hosting info. Copy name servers of your hosting and paste them into the name server fields in our domain registrar account. And don’t forget to click save changes.
If you don’t set the domain as primary domain for your hosting account, you need to add addon domain to your hosting account. Go to your hosting cpanel, click addon domains. In create an addon domain section, fill in the required fields. And then click add domain. That’s it! You now have your domain name connected to your hosting account. So whenever users visit your domain name such as yourdomain.com, it will point to website that is hosted on your hosting account.
